Sometimes I obsess about existential ruts of my own creation. Sometimes I obsess about what's for dinner. I find the latter obsession more satisfying. (Views are personal)

Slices of Raja -7
*Inspired by a conversation in the comment section over at Baradwaj's blog*
For the first 30 seconds we do not feel Raja's presence, we only hear ambient noise. And then Raja starts setting us up slowly with the synth sounds, a high note here, a low note there, the music from the nadhaswaram (also in Hamsanadham I believe) and the mELam. When guNa finally see's his abirami up close Raja hits his stride fully, letting forth a scintillating Hamsanadham via volins, veena and flutes. Of course pArtha vizhi is one of those little slices of heaven Raja reserves for Jesudas.
An interesting aside - The first verse of the Abirami Anthaathi by Abirama Pattar begins . The most prominent thing on Rohini's face when guNa and the audience catch sight of her for the first time is that big red dollop of kungumam on her forehead, reinforcing the myth in guNa's mind.
